Step 3 Moving Forward
You are happy with your home, specification and price you can now sign an authority to proceed form
We take a preliminary payment to progress to the next stage
We then start the design process

- SW Report
- Engineering
- Other reports if needed
Step 4 Tests and Reports
At this stage we conduct any testing required to provide a completed quote. This not only ensures your home is safe but meets the NZ building standards.
This process also allows us to pick up any unforeseen hidden costs so you have no surprises.
Going to contract with these unknown factors can be a big risk, here at Hive Homes we make sure we keep you safe from any big variations during your build by getting all the information needed.
Step 5 Design and Engineers
At Hive Homes we prepare a full 3D visual design for you to look at and go over in person to make sure you are 100% happy before you head to contract.
Once you have signed off your design we then submit this to our experienced draftsmen and engineers to finalise the design to move towards contract.

Step 6 Build Contracts
We can meet with you in our display office or your home to sign a Hives Homes build contract
You will have 10 working days to get approval from your lawyer and bank for finance, if you need more time we can give an extension
Once lawyers and banks have given you the go ahead 10% deposit is due here
Step 7 Colour Consult
The time has come to meet our very talented interior designer, who will bring all your colour, texture and product choices together
To make it easy on the same day, an electrical consult is booked so you can go through where lights and power points will be located on plan, this helps if you are wanting to discuss any feature lights or automated systems
You will be booked in for your kitchen consultation on the same day or another day that suits
Step 8 Council Approval
After checking all your paperwork, we will now submit your plans to council for building consent, Once your building consent has been approved we can then start breaking ground.
Step 9 Slab Down
After building consent is issued, your construction manager will be able to give you an estimated date for earthworks to start
Once earthworks has been done your slab foundation will be going down next, we will book you in for your slab ceremony
15% Slab down payment is due here
Step 10 Frames Up
Frames start to go up which will give you a real feel for your living spaces
15% Frame stage payment is due here
Step 11 Roof On
Now that the frames and trusses are on your new home it is ready for the roof to go on.
20% Roof on payment is due here
Step 12 Lock Up Stage
Here your home will become secure as the roof, windows, cladding, and external doors are all installed
You will have a real external view of what your new home will look like
15% Lock up payment is due here
Step 13 Finishing Stage
This is the stage when all your exciting product choices and colours get installed and all the finishing touches

- Flooring and tiles - Bathrooms
- Paint
20% Finishing payment is due here
Step 14 Handover Stage
Congratulations your new home is now finished. After a good clean, and we have inspected the property from top to bottom and your last stage payment has been paid, we are ready to handover your keys
5% Completion payment is due here
